Manual

Using GUI-O app, you can remotely access your device and control it  from anywhere at anytime (e.g., turn on/off, adjust settings, etc. ). But first, you need to pair your Android powered device (e.g.,  mobile phone, tablet, etc.) and the device you want to control.

After powering on, your device will enter the pairing mode during the first use. Follow the instructions in GUI-O application and you will pair both devices in a few minutes or check user's  device pairing manual here.

Connect - for developers

To build a custom and interactive GUI you will need:

  1. Any MCU that supports Bluetooth (serial port profile), Bluetooth LE, USB or IoT capable interface (e.g., WiFi / Mobile data module),
  2. an Android powered device with OS version 5.1+ (e.g., mobile phone) and
  3. GUI-O application.

All input and output data stream between the Android device and chosen MCU is based on simple ASCII command protocol.

To be able to use one of the communication standards additional hardware must be properly set-up. Hardware setup varies based on the project requirements and available resources (check GUI-O and ESP8266 pairing).

Once you set-up desired HW:

  1. Tap on the [Connections] menu on your Android device (GUI-O application already installed).
  2. Press the [Default connection] button.
  3. From the [Default connection] menu choose desired protocol. Press the icon and setup the connection. The chosen connection appears under the [Default connection].

Now you can start with creating, connecting and controlling the whole world with just one app. You can try our basic examples here or start with our full manual and just do it – build your own application.
